While I am staring over the white- painted fence I start to notice a dog that looks like it is disguised as a tiger!

The bright yellow sun made it hard to see the half tiger but I am managing to see vibrant orange and black stripes on the dog’s tail, its tongue is sticking out! I am grabbing my camera out of my pocket and taking the best photo I can of this weird dog. (Well not much of a dog at all!). Just now my friend is walking up to me and saying “What on earth are you staring at?” she is asking. “That dog” I am answering. “It’s just like a tiger, I can smell its smelly doggy breath (Or shall I say tiger breath?) “So can I” I am answering. “It is now attacking us…” my friend is making up. I can hear it breathing hard as it is panting uncontrollably… it is scary! I can feel fear goose-bumps running down my arms. Now I am running into my house in fear.

ASB Maths Challenge

Room 15 Parents - it's only 2 weeks to go until the ASB New Zealand Maths Challenge kicks off for 2013.  Attracting over 70,000 Kiwi students, the Challenge (21st 22nd of August) uses curriculum activities and live on-line competitions to immerse your students in the world of Maths.  There are also hundreds of amazing prizes on offer and regional placings at stake!  If your child is licensed for either Mathletics then they're already registered for the Challenge - they simply use their existing logins to enter.  If you have unlicensed child then they can participate. Simply head to www.nzmathschallenge.co.nz and follow the registration process.

Our ‘Trash To Fashion Parade’

We have spent this term exploring how we can reduce our waste at school and at home to improve our environment.  We have also learnt what happens with our rubbish once it has been collected.

We are all looking forward to visiting the Visy Recycling Centre to see first-hand how our rubbish is recycled.  We have had fun collecting and using rubbish from home and recycling these items as art, toys and clothing.

We used our ‘green hat thinking’ to create our amazing clothing from recycled materials. Perhaps we have some future entrants in the New Zealand Wearable Art Contest?  Who knows what the future may bring.
